Background

She has a diverse academic background. She graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with a Bachelor of Human Sciences majoring in Political Science, and a Masters of Laws in International Law specialising in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.

The exposure to multiple disciplines during her previous studies stimulate her interest in many areas, specifically the relationship and application of Maqasid Al Shariah in contemporary criminal law, the criminal justice system and human rights. In her research, she focusses on the application of the framework of Maqasid Al-Shariah in Islamic criminal law, setting the discussion by contextually focussing on SPCO 2013 as a contemporary legislation of Islamic criminal law. The research espouses the application of Maqasid Al Shariah as incorporated in context of Brunei Darussalam in the process of legislation and implementation of SPCO 2013. The research also evaluates the published responses of the Govt towards the criticisms of the SPCO 2013, in the light of Maqasid Al-Shariah.
